LEWISTON – For the second summer in a row, Baxter Outdoors has partnered with Maine Huts & Trails to bring a classic backcountry race to the heart of Western Maine’s High Peaks Region. This year’s race, the ‘Backwoods Duathlon’ will take place on Saturday, August 1st.
The two-discipline, multisport race will include a 10km trail run and a 15km mountain bike leg to be completed either solo or as a relay team of two. The mountain bike leg will feature a descent on the newly cut Oak Knoll Trail.
Baxter Outdoors has also partnered with Carrabassett Coffee Co. as the sponsor for this race and the Carrabassett Region of the New England Mountain Bike Association (CR NEMBA) as the race’s beneficiary. CR NEMBA will receive a donation of $0.50 per mile covered in this race.
