PHILLIPS – Come join High Peaks Alliance on Sept. 28 during the Great Maine Outdoor Weekend and Follow Fly Rod’s Footsteps to Rangeley on a group hike, mountain bike, or ATV ride.

The Fly Rod Crosby Trail Hike from Phillips to Madrid begins at 8:15 am. Join prior to this moderate hike along the Sandy River at the Phillips Area Community Center (PACC) for light snacks at 8am. The ATV Ride begins at 8am in Phillips. Meet at Narrow Gauge Riders Park/Ride on Route 4, one quarter mile north of Edmunds Market. Light snacks provided before the ride to Onion Valley Lookout and back. The mountain bike trip will leave from PACC at 10:30 am. You must bring your own machine and helmet to go on the ATV ride, and your own mountain bike and helmet to go on the bike ride. A shuttle will run from the trail head to PACC to bring hikers, bikers and others back to their cars.

Join High Peaks Alliance for a moose burger lunch at the Fly Rod Crosby trail head in Madrid from 11:30AM—1:30PM. LUNCH will be Free for Members and you can sign up for membership the day of the event. Adults will be $7.00, Students & Seniors are $5.00, Children under 5 Free with a Family discount of 4 people for $20.00. If you want to come for a short, easy hike from the Madrid trail head we will start out at 10:30 am.

To get to the trail head in Madrid, take route 4 to Madrid Village, cross the Sandy River on the Reeds Mill Road and drive 4.5 miles. The trailhead will be on your left after the Star Barn Bed and Breakfast. For more information, please visit www.highpeaksalliance.org.

  1. What a wonderful, fun sounding event. Hope the turnout surpasses your expectations. I commend High Peaks for all the local contributions that you have been making over the last years.
