Pictured are the wardens of Section Four, which covers all of Franklin County, Northern Oxford County and parts of western Somerset County. From left to right are Sgt. The Maine Warden Service graduated ten new game wardens at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy in Vassalboro on April 27. Among the graduates was Harry Wiegman of Leeds, who has been assigned as the district game warden for Rangeley.

The new wardens recently completed an extensive 12-week advanced academy specifically for Maine’s game wardens. The Advanced Warden Academy followed the 18-week Basic Law Enforcement Training Program required of all full-time Maine police officers. The past 12 weeks prepared the new wardens by utilizing classroom, field and scenario based training components.

Upon receiving their certificate of graduation, each new warden joined their respective section, or working group. There are fifteen sections in the Maine Warden Service, each supervised by a sergeant. Each section is comprised of districts, which are the towns or geographic coverage areas that each district game warden is primarily responsible for.
