RANGELEY – The Outdoor Sporting Heritage Museum will host author Earl Yorke for a book signing on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Yorke’s debut novel, Fresh Water from Ben Gile Pond arrives on bookshelves, both digital and physical, this Labor Day. The novel is set in Rangeley, 30 years after a cataclysmic collision of governments saw most of the nation destroyed and the world’s water supply irreversibly tainted. Most of rural Maine has reverted back to something of a frontier, and those resourceful enough to survive have adapted to a new, more basic way of life.

Earl lives in Eliot, though he’s been visiting Rangeley regularly for over 25 years. He is an avid reader and an obsessive runner. He collects rare vinyl and is a craft beer enthusiast. His influences include Stephen King and Kurt Vonnegut. His love for the Rangeley Lakes region and the people who make it so distinct and charming, made it very easy for him to set his debut novel there. He looks forward to launching Fresh Water from Ben Gile Pond in the very region where it was inspired.

Yorke’s novel will be available for purchase and signing by the author and he’ll will visit with museum patrons from 11-3 p.m. The museum is open from 10-4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday throughout the month of September. For more information, please call 864-3091.
