Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust announces Outdoor Adventure Series

RANGELEY – The Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust will be hosting its 6th annual Outdoor Adventure Series this summer. For more information on a particular program or to register please call (207) 864-7311. Registration opens April 15.

June 20 – Trail Maintenance Day on Forest Legacy – Join RLHT staff and interns on the Forest Legacy Trail and campsites! With so much snowfall and winds this past winter, we anticipate a little extra TLC will be required! Bring your energy, gloves and eye protection, and we’ll provide the loppers, bow saws, shovels and lunch is provided!!! Rain date of June 21. Cost: FREE Time: 9 AM – 4PM Limited to 6.

June 26 – Canoe and Flyfish Sandy River Ponds – Have you ever wanted to fish a pond so you can tune your flyfishing skills from a canoe? This is a great opportunity to hook up to a wild brook trout, visit scenic beauty, and take advantage of a home-cooked, pond-side meal. Join us in the land of legends and fish with Registered Maine Guides. Instruction and limited equipment provided, if needed. Paddling flatwater required. Rain date of June 10. Cost: $100 Time: 7 AM – 5 PM Limited to 6.

July 18 – CPR, AED and First Aid w/ RLHT Staff – Can you help someone in need of medical assistance? Prepare for your summer outdoor activities by learning adult CPR, AED and basic first aid skills. This course will be taught by RLHT’s Shelby Rousseau, an American Heart Association instructor. Certification cards will be issued upon successful completion of the course. No experience required. Cost: $20 Time: 8 AM – 12 PM Age min of 14. Limited to 8.

July 25 – Rangeley Lake Boat Tour Aboard the Oquossoc Lady – Looking for an opportunity to see Rangeley Lake from within? Join us and Captain Kevin Sinnett aboard the “Oquossoc Lady” to learn about RLHT’s conservation accomplishments, view historical camps, potential wildlife and learn about Rangeley’s “Jewel” in the Rangeley Lakes chain, Rangeley Lake! Rain date of July 26. Cost: $10 Time: 8 AM – 12 PM Snacks provided. Limited to 10.

July 27 – Paint Night w/ Local Artist Sonja Johnson – Finding our artistic talent can be quite difficult to do. RLHT is excited to have Sonja Johnson, local artist and teacher, to inspire your inner creativity by focusing on the region’s conservation masterpiece, the Height of Land. Please join us for a fun-filled evening at the Gingerbread House! Hors d’oeurves and soft drinks provided. Cash bar available. No experience required! Cost: $40 Time: 5 PM – 8 PM Limited to 20.

August 4 – Forestry Tour of RLHT’s South Bog Conservation Area – Join RLHT’s forester, Nathan Kay, of Seven Islands Land Company and RLHT staff, on our popular forest management practices tour. Nathan will open your eyes to quality managed timberland and share his prescription for sustainability on RLHT conservation lands. Bring your boots and questions! Rain or shine. Cost: FREE Time: 9 AM – 12 PM. Limited to 12.

August 14 – Kennebago Lake Paddle and Lunch at Grants Camps – Have you ever been jealous of the EcoVenture Campers and the trips they go on? Here’s your chance to capture some adult fun with our EcoVenture Director, Amanda Davis and RLHT Volunteer, Ellie White! Paddle Kennebago Lake, converse with these two conservation heroes and have a scrumptious lunch at historic Grants Camps! Hold onto the gunwales, this trip will be fun, beautiful and delicious! Cost: $40 Time: 10 AM – 2 PM Age min 18. Limited to 12.
