RANGELEY – The Rangeley Lakes Region Historical Society invites the public to come help celebrate the 2nd annual Rangeley Regatta on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 9 a.m. This event will be held at the Societies Outdoor Sporting Heritage Museum and will host teams of 6th-8th grade boys and girls from the Rangeley, Phillips, Strong, Stratton and Kingfield middle schools.
Whether you are a student, parent, volunteer or spectator, this is a fun event. The students will compete in a wide variety of competitions featuring Fly casting, Archery, Fly Tying, a team Outdoor Trivia Contest, one Mile Road Race plus Art, Poetry and Public Speaking Contests, Canoe Relay and Kayak Races. The feature event will be boy’s and girl’s team rowing races in the society’s authentic and recently restored Rangeley Boats.
The event will allow participants to earn individual ribbons and team points will determine which team will take home the Rangeley Regatta Cup. Will Rangeley defend the cup this year? Come and find out!
Opening ceremonies are at 9 a.m. Dry land field events, trivia contest and art will be held at the Outdoor Sporting Heritage Museum and the Guides & Sportsman’s Clubhouse. Boys and girls canoe, kayak & Rangeley Boat races will be held at Oquossoc Cove Marina. Awards and closing ceremonies will be 2:15 p.m. at the Museum.
