WILTON – Spring must be on the way, because the Wilson Lake Ice-Out Contest is back for another year.

Help Wilton Fish & Game with their fundraiser and possibly be the winner of the $100 Ice-Out contest. For a mere $5, people can be part of the excitement in guessing when the last iceberg leaves Wilson Lake. Many
individuals over the years have developed their own theory to win. Bruce jokes that the ice goes out near his birthday, someone already has an idea that the date may be July 1, and one lady likes to put a date nearest to the full moon.

Pick up your ticket from Bruce Dyke, Ray Ray’s Café in Wilton, Rick’s Market in Dryden or just put your name, contact number and money in an envelope with the month, day, hour and minute the ice will go out and mail it to Bruce Dyke, P.O. BOX 605, Wilton, ME 04294.Screen Shot 2015-03-12 at 10.11.46 AM

  1. I am interested in what the definition of “ice out”is, is it when the majority of the ice has melted or is it every last bit? These things matter when casting a vote ;)

  2. The ice is considered out when a boat can go from the boat launch to the big island without touching ice.
