WILTON – The members of the Wilton Fish & Game Association and the WF&G Youth Shooting League would like to welcome young and old to their annual open house on Saturday, Aug. 8. during the Wilton Blueberry Festival Weekend

There will be a certified archery instructor on site to instruct the use of equipment, safety and technique. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in archery to try the sport, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Ages 6 and up. At 11 a.m., Will Sampson will present a demo on the building of a bow.

During the hours of 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. the Conex Box will be open for anyone to sharpen their skills at the shooting gallery. This year, silhouettes holding clay pigeons have been added for an additional shooting opportunity. The gatling gun will be available for anyone to test there shooting abilities, also new this year will be a 1 Shot Challenge using exploding targets. Guns and ammo will be supplied for a small fee. This should be a fun competition. This is a great opportunity to try outdoor sports and to learn the safety rules under the instruction of skilled outdoors men and women. There will be a range officer on site.

At 1 p.m. the range will be open for Trap shooting under the direction of Charlie Tappan for a minimal fee. Please remember to bring Eyes and Ear Protection.

The Youth Shooting League will be cooking a hamburger and hot dog lunch. This is a fund raiser to help support the youth shooting sports.

WF&G members will be downtown by Food City during the festival Friday and Saturday to answer any questions about events sponsored throughout the year or membership. Fall Raffle tickets will be available as the clubs annual fundraiser with several great prizes. 1st. Prize: Choice of Benelli 12 Gauge Pump Shot Gun-Ducks Unlimited Edition or 5 Max Trap Ice Fishing Traps-Cancer Edition (Donated by Greg Nemi). 2nd Prize: Fly Fishing Package & Net. 3rd Prize: Walking Stick (Donated by Warren Bryant) and two Youth Life Jackets (donated by Charles Tappan). Winning tickets will be drawn on Sept. 19.

Wilton Fish & Game Assoc. meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month beginning at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Phil at 897-3027.
