FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington men’s basketball team (4-11, 3-6) was outmatched by Castleton’s Rob Coloutti and his three-point shooting in Friday night’s, 68-51, loss to Castleton at Dearborn Gymnasium.

The Spartans jumped out to an early 10-point lead in the opening 7 minutes, but the Beavers clawed their way back into the game with a 3-pointer from Logan Nichols and five points from Jimmie Chaisson to make it a 4-point game.

UMF trailed at the half, 29-22, thanks in large part to its free throw shooting. The Beavers hit 9 of 12 from the charity stripe despite shooting 20 percent from the floor.

In the second half, Coloutti took over by draining 3 of 5 from long range. Castleton shot 63.6 percent (14-22) from the floor in the second half while holding UMF to only 37.5 percent (9-24).

Rob Coloutti drained four 4-pointers on his way to a game-high 18 points and 7 rebounds. Chad Copeland recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Jimmie Chaisson led the Beavers with 11 points and six rebounds off the bench.

UMF returns to the hardwood on Saturday at 3 p.m. to host Green Mountain.
