Class A North Quarterfinal: Gardiner edges Mt. Blue, 43-35

AUGUSTA – Despite a 20-20 tie at the half, Gardiner managed to edge past the Mt. Blue girls team in Class A North quarterfinal game at the Augusta Civic Center on Friday, winning by a score of 43-35.

The No. 3 ranked Gardiner team was surprised to find an even score at the half with the No. 6 ranked Mt. Blue.

Contributing to the Cougars successes all season, Caitlin Kane led her team in the quarterfinal with the game high of 12 points and four steals. Mackenzie Harris was close with 10 points and pulled down eight rebounds while teammate Eryn Doiron contributed eight points, had five assists and four rebounds.

The Tigers’ Lauren Chadwick led her team with 13 points and teammate Leslie Stevens had 11.

In a regional semifinal set for Wednesday, Gardiner will play the No. 2 ranked Messalonskee.
