Cougar Soccer Classic races are Aug. 17

FARMINGTON - After a two-year break, the fourth running of the Cougar Soccer Classic 5 Kilometer and 1 mile road races and 5 Kilometer Walk will be held this year on Friday night, Aug. 17.

Registration for the events will begin at 4:30 pm at the Whistlestop Rail Trail Parking Lot off Oakes Street in West Farmington. The walkers will begin at 5:30 pm with the kids 1 mile run for ages 15 and under at 5:40 pm. The 5K race will begin at 6:00 pm. The event will be held on the Whistlestop Rail Trail, a flat firmly packed gravel surface. Proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Soccer Programs at Mt Blue High School.

Awards for the top finishers in several age groups will be presented in both races and raffle prizes will be drawn for the walkers. A limited number of t-shirts are available. The fee is $10 for all events and a registration form can be obtained by emailing Chelsea Thompson at cthompso@bates.edu or calling Ben Russell at 491-9970.
