Field Hockey: Skowhegan ends Mt. Blue’s season with 1-0 win

FARMINGTON – The Skowhegan field hockey team will move on to regional finals after defeating the top-seeded Mt. Blue by a score of 1-0 in the Class A North semi-final held on Monday at Caldwell Field.

Skowhegan’s Maliea Kelso scored the lone goal in the second half during an evenly played, back-and-forth match-up.

Mt. Blue went undefeated in its regular season, the best the team has ever recorded. Skowhegan, with a 11-3-1 record, takes on Messalonkee for the regional final on Wednesday.

  2. Good job Ladies great season. you have nothing to be disappointed about, you guys played your hearts out and it went the other way. GO COUGARS and lets see what next year will bring. Jody you are unbelievable !! you brought this group of young Ladies together and made them a great team they learned a lot this season. thanks again for all that you do you ROCK….

  3. Man, what a tough way to end a great season.

    Keep your heads up, girls. You have accomplished more than you’ll know for a great many years. Those of you who come back next year have another shot. Those who graduate have great memories and should have much bolstered self-esteem through real achievement. No one can take that from you.

    Take heart from the University of Maine women’s basketball team, which came within one point last March of making the NCAA tournament. Terribly dispiriting loss, and eight players graduated and don’t have another shot at the Big Dance. But, what a run they had.

    And what a run you have had. Congratulations on a wonderful season. Lots of people you don’t even know are proud of you.
