LIVERMORE – Thirty-five ladies braced threatening skies on Wednesday to support women who face breast cancer. For the third year, four-person teams competed in an 18-hole scramble for prizes of free golf at Maine courses.

The winning team, with a tournament record low of 3-under-par 67 , was comprised of Lorraine Carlton, Melanie Chasse, Michelle LeClair, and Carol Nichols.

Second place was claimed by Sue Riekert, Karen Bor, Ricky Christensen, and Jayne Toncer. Sue St. Pierre, Karen Hardy, Deb Finley, and Jackie Kilbreth placed third.

Other prizes went to Melanie Chasse for the longest drive up the hill on hole number one and Lorraine Carlton for her shot closest to the pin on the par 3 number six hole.

Upon completion of play, the participants enjoyed a lunch and the awarding of raffle items donated by 40 supporters. A special raffle of a Breast Cancer themed quilt made by Ruth White of Kingfield and donated by Faye Chadbourn was held and the quilt was won by Colleen Kirksey.

Twenty-eight other individuals and businesses paid to have their names posted on the tee boxes. The team of Sue St. Pierre, Karen Hardy, Deb Finley, and Jackie Kilbreth won the drawing for naming at least 18 of the posted sponsors and received filled clutch bags

In the end, $3,700 was raised to provide direct services to patients at the Bennett Breast Care Center in Lewiston.
