Girls Basketball: Bangor defeats Mt. Blue, 54-41

FARMINGTON – The nearly perfect Bangor girls basketball team got off a fast start and never looked back, winning the game against Mt. Blue High School on Saturday 54-41.

Bangor, up by 17 points at the end of the first quarter to Mt. Blue’s 6 points continued to lead in points by the half.

The Cougars rallied after the half nailing 15 points to Bangor’s 11, but the Rams came back strong in the fourth quarter to out score Mt. Blue 14 to 9 points for a game-ending tally of 54 Bangor to Mt. Blue’s 41.

Mt. Blue’s hard-working Caitlin Kane was her team’s leading scorer with 12 points, and contributed 5 rebounds, 5 assists. Her teammates Eryn Doiron and Addie Brinkman each hit one three-point goal.

Bangor’s Cordelia Stewart lead with 16 points, Katie Butler with 12 and Sarah Bragg netted 11 points. Of those, Bragg hit 3 three-point goals, Butler had one.

Bangor is now 14-1 on the season and Mt. Blue 9-5.

Bangor narrowly won the junior varsity game 31-27 against Mt. Blue (2-12). Mt. Blue’s Hannah LeClair contributed 9 points and 8 rebounds, Leah St. Laurent 8 points and Taylor Burke 7 rebounds.

In the 9th grade game, Mt. Blue (3-4) won 36 to 12 against Bangor. Mt. Blue’s Jocelyn Daggett had 11 points, 9 steals and 5 rebounds; Erika McArthur 10 points and Emma Haines 5 points, 8 rebounds.
