Girls Basketball: Lawrence 49, Mt. Blue 37

FAIRFIELD – Mt. Blue girls basketball team struggled from the foul line, giving Lawrence the opportunity for a 49-37 win at Saturday’s game.

Lawrence took an early lead and by the end of the first quarter had 16 points to Mt. Blue’s 6. While Mt. Blue stayed even with Lawrence in the second quarter and put up 15 points to Lawrence’s answer of 6 in the third quarter, the Bulldogs pulled away with 18 points in the last quarter for the win.

Mt. Blue struggled from the foul line and from the floor shooting only 16 of 31. Caitlin Kane scored 17 and pulled down 4 rebounds. Rachelle Bator scored 6 and had 5 rebounds, Eryn Doiron scored 9 and had 3 steals and Addie Brinkman contributed with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks.

For Lawrence, Nia Irving had 19 points, while Dominique Lewis contributed 11, with 3 of those, three-point goals.

The win gives Lawrence a perfect 14-0 season record so far and moves Mt. Blue to 10-5.

In the junior varsity game, Mt. Blue lost to Lawrence, 46-35. Mt. Blue’s leading scorers were Hannah LeClair with 10 points, 5 rebounds and Taylor Burke with 6 points, 5 rebounds. The team is 2-14 on the season.

In the freshmen game, Mt. Blue defeated Lawrence, 32-26. Leading scorers for Mt. Blue were Jocelyn Daggett at 14 points, 6 rebounds; Erika McAurther had 9 points, 6 rebounds and Haley Caswell, 7 rebounds. The win brings Mt. Blue 5-4 on the season.
