Girls basketball: Lawrence 55, Mt. Blue 40

FAIRFIELD – It was a back-and-forth game Tuesday night, but in the end, the undefeated Lawrence High School girls varsity basketball proved too tough against Mt. Blue’s squad, winning by a score of 55-40.

The Bulldogs started out strong ending the first quarter with 18 points to the Cougars’ 7. Mt. Blue out-scored Lawrence 14 points to their 6 in the second quarter but in the third, Lawrence was able to maintain a 7-point lead. Lawrence dominated in final quarter by adding 19 to Mt. Blue’s 11 points for a final tally of 55-40.

Mt. Blue’s Caitlin Kane scored 16 points, with 4 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists. Teammate Eryn Doiron hit the back of the net for 11 points and pulled down 4 rebounds.

Lawrence’s Dominique Lewis was the game’s top scorer with 20 points.

The loss moves Mt. Blue to 1-3 on the season and Lawrence remains undefeated with 4 wins.

The Lawrence junior varsity team won as well with a 46-39 score against Mt. Blue.

Mt. Blue’s Jocelyn Daggett notched 10 points, with 5 steals, 6 rebounds and Jacelyn Daggett added 8 points and had 3 steals.
