Girls softball: Edward Little 7, Mt. Blue 5

AUBURN – The Edward Little Red Eddies scored 4 quick runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and then held off Mt. Blue on their way to a 7 to 5 victory on Friday.

EL’s Calle Murray began the inning with a double to left field and RBI singles by Taylor Depot and Molly Murray sandwiched around a sacrifice fly by Sarah Hammond helped Edward Little to the early lead.

The Cougars scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning followed by 2 runs in the 3rd with singles from Taylor Burke and Kasadie Barker.

A 2 RBI double by Depot in the 4th gave the Eddies a 7 to 4 lead. Mt. Blue had 2 singles in the 7th inning including a sharp base hit by Kayleigh Fontaine and an RBI hit to centerfield by Caitlin Kane looking to rally but the Cougars were then shut down.

EL’s Molly Murray started and threw 2 and 2/3 innings followed by Sarah Hammond who finished up on the mound. Kane took the pitching loss for Mt. Blue.

Edward Little moves to 2-0 on the young season and Mt. Blue drops to 1-1.
