LIVERMORE – For the second year in a row, the patients of Bennett Breast Care Center were winners in the Lady Golfers’ golf tournament at Maple Lane Golf Course.

Forty women faced the rain and mist to play an 18-hole scramble to raise the money. They then bid on over 30 items donated by area businesses to help pay for mammograms for prospective patients. High interest items were a white-water rafting trip and golf passes at Sugarloaf Golf Course. There was a separate raffle for a quilt made and donated by Sue St. Pierre. A donation of $3400 will be given to the center.

Alma Jordan-Ames of the Bennett Breast Care Center thanked the ladies for their generous support. She explained how last year’s funds had been spent on patients who would otherwise not been able to afford cancer-detecting mammograms.

The day ended with a delicious buffet lunch served by the Three Sister Catering Service and the awarding of prizes. First place passes to Norway Country Club went to the team of Georgiana Woodford, Marilyn Lord, Faye Chadbourne, and Arline Amos. Second place golf bags went to the team of Michelle St. Jean, Judy Howard, Kim Soule, and Cindy Schrepper. Third place passes to Oakdale Country Club went to Judi Richard, Lisa Mackenzie, Tammy Hall-Eldredge, and Dawn McLaughlin.

Kim Soule won the longest drive on #1. Closest to the pin on #3 went to Judy Ouelette while closest to the pin on #6 was won by Faye Chadbourne.

After participants expressed enjoyment of and sponsors supported the occasion, the organizers are already looking forward to next year’s event.
