CASTLETON, Vt. – The University of Maine at Farmington men’s lacrosse team (0-4, 0-1) fired seven shots on goal but could not get on the scoreboard in Saturday’s, 23-0, loss to Castleton State in North Atlantic Conference action.

Casey Wrigley (Oakland, Maine) led the Beavers with three shots on goal and Cameron McAllister (Yarmouth, Maine) added two more. David Grainger (Lexington, Mass.) and Tom McGowan (Windham, Maine) took a shot each at Castleton’s keepers but came up short.

Josh Smith (Sidney, Maine) picked up five groundballs and forced six turnovers. Joseph Maldonado (Fresno, CA) and Sean Zubrod (Sidney, Maine) grabbed four groundballs apiece.

Maldonado recorded a career-high 23 saves in the loss. The sophomore finished only one stop shy of tying the single-game record for most saves in a game by a UMF goalie.

Farmington makes the trip from Castleton to Worcester, Mass. for a non-conference showdown with Becker College tomorrow afternoon.
