FARMINGTON – University of Maine at Farmington men’s basketball (0-3) senior Nick Hilton (Wilton, Maine/Mt. Blue) notched a team-high 17 points in a 60-56 non-conference loss to Saint Joseph’s College (2-1) on Monday night at Dearborn Gymnasium.

Hilton led the squad in the points’ column and also grabbed five rebounds. Sean Murphy (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) had a solid game and nearly recorded a double-double with ten points and eight rebounds.

John Crawley tallied a game-high 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting, including 4-of-7 from beyond the arc to lead the Monks. Ben Malloy added 12 points and two assists off the bench.

The game came down to the wire as UMF fought back from a 14-point deficit to narrow the gap to single digits in the final minutes. After Murphy nailed a long shot with 14 seconds remaining on the clock to bring the Beavers within three, St. Joe’s made the first of two free throws to seal the deal.

Farmington opens conference play on Monday, Dec. 1 at Husson.
