AUGUSTA -The Mt. Blue High School Cross-Country team placed second out of 18 schools in the annual Scott Lalibertie pre-season meet at Cony High School in Augusta.

The meet uses a unique scoring system where boys and girls team scores are combined to determine the overall champion. Lead by a strong girls team, Yarmouth captured the team crown.

The Cougar boys were the top boys team at the meet. Tucker Barber (4th) and Zeke Robinson (6th) lead the way. Isaiah Reid (18), Emmett Trafton (19), Sam Stinson (21), and Thad Gunther (23) added strong depth.

Mt. Blue placed 5th on the girls side. The Cougars were lead by the trio of Maeve Hickey, Kahryn Cullenberg, and Meg Charles in places 13-15. River Lisius showed tremendous toughness finishing 50th after having her wisdom teeth out earlier in the week, while Grace Andrews battled through sickness as the Cougars fifth scoring runner in 67th place.

The Mt. Blue boys also ran well in the JV race with Jesse Dalton (2), Ethan Macintosh (4), Jon Lesko (5), and Hunter Hutchins (9) all placing in the top 10. Beth Nicholas was the top JV girls runner in 22nd place.
