Mt. Blue girls varsity prove too much for Messalonskee, 44-30

OAKLAND – In their season opener at Messalonskee High School, the Mt. Blue High School girls varsity team pulled ahead in the second half for a convincing 44-30 win.

The win gives Mt. Blue a 1-0 start on the regular season and Messalonskee a 2-1 record.

Mt. Blue’s Eryn Doiron and Caitlin Kane each netted 12 points and Addie Brinkman contributed 8 points and 4 blocks. Emilee Eustis dished out 4 assists.

Messalonskee’s Sophia Holmes contributed 9 points and teammate Allyssa Turner 8 points.

In the junior varsity game, Messalonskee topped Mt. Blue 47-23 in the season opener.

Mt. Blue’s Kasadie Barker netted 7 points and 4 rebounds and Jocelyn Daggett, 4 points and 6 rebounds.

Messalonskee’s McKenna Broueur was the high scorer with 10 points and Haley Lowell contributed 8 points.

Mt. Blue travels to Edward Little on Tuesday, Dec. 16 for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
