Mt. Blue junior wins All American status

Kahryn Cullenberg at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno, Nevada.

FARMINGTON - Kahryn Cullenberg of Farmington, Me achieved All American status in cross country running by placing 6th at the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic National cross country championship held at Rancho San Rafael Regional Park in Reno, Nevada on December 8.

Cullenberg ran a strategic race on unfamiliar territory and conditions. The 5K (3.1 mile) course, at nearly a mile high elevation, consisted of long stretches of snow and mud. Cullenberg was able to adjust and worked her way into All American position midway through the race.

There were 155 athletes from throughout the United States in the championship race. Kahryn qualified for the event by placing 2nd at the northeast regional race, held at Van Cortlandt Park, in New York City on November 17.
