Sandy River XC 2014 PosterFARMINGTON – It has been 7 years since Mt Blue Middle School has sponsored a cross country running team. Thanks to the persistence of many parents the team will once again done the colors of blue and gold that represent Mt Blue interscholastic activities.

The program was cut prior to the 2009 season due to lack of interest. It has been run by a volunteer coaching staff as a middle school club sport since and continued to follow the same league meet schedule. Under the name Sandy River XC, the club was very successful and roster numbers were consistently in the twenties.

Students in grades six through eight are eligible to participate and should sign up at the school starting on opening day. The first practice will be Thursday, Sept. 3. All participants for all school sponsored sports are required to have a physical on file in order to practice and compete.

  1. A sign of the times ? When I was middle school age, I was in a prep school that required participation in a sport each season- it was our Phys-Ed program. One had to have a doctor’s excuse to NOT participate.

  2. Thanks to all of you who made this important change happen and to those who kept it going in the unsupported years. Yeah!
