NORTH SCITUATE, R.I. – Tucker Barber of Mt. Blue High School completed an outstanding season by placing 12th and earning All-New England honors at the New England Cross Country Championships at Ponaganset High School on Saturday.

In typical fashion, Barber started slowly and gradually moved up the pack. He was around 50th place at the mile mark, moved up to 27th at mile two and picked off several more runners in the final mile. Barber’s time of 15:56 for the 5-kilometer course was second among Maine runners behind the seventh place finish of Jeremiah Sands of Falmouth.

Barber completed an outstanding senior year which saw him win the individual championship in the KVAC, regional, and state meets. Along with co-captain Isaiah Reid, he lead Mt. Blue to the team championship in the KVAC and Northern Maine Regional and a fifth place finish at the Class A State Championship.
