Rangeley Fitness Center, community partners present 2015 Run/Walk Series

RANGELEY – The 2015 Rangeley Fitness Center Run/Walk Series will kick off with its first run, “Out of the Mud” on Saturday, May 9 at 9 a.m. starting at the Farmers Daughter in Oquossoc.

This run will be a 5K or 10K (3 or 6 miles) The Farmers Daughter has generously sponsored the entire series by providing a 20 percent off coupon to use at their facility for each participant and registration, with five runs equaling five coupons. They are also donating snacks to fuel the participants before, during and after the runs. There will be three prizes for each run that will be awarded through a bib draw. Each participant is entered for a chance to win one of these great prizes. The Farmers Daughter also offers 10 percent off every purchase to anyone with a current Rangeley Fitness Center membership.

The second run in this series, “Lupine Trail Run”, will take place on June 21 at 9 a.m. on The Mingo Loop Bird Walk Trail. Mingo Springs Golf Course is a beautiful scenic spot and this run ends in a field of Lupines. This is also the weekend of the Lupine Festival. Each participant in this run will get a 20 percent off coupon to use on any Lupines and Loon cruise aboard the Oquossoc Lady offered by Rangeley Region Lake Cruises. The Outdoor Sporting Heritage Museum will also give each participant 20 percent off admission to use on June 20 or 21.

The third run, “Hatchery Brook Trail Run,” will take place at The Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust Hatchery Brook Trail on July 11 at 9 a.m. This is a 5K (3 miles) and a 1 mile fun run for kids on a well maintained trail. The Farmers Daughter will be providing a goody bag filled with nutritious treats for each child participant.

On August 9, The Rangeley Fitness Center will be hosting a 5K, 10K and Half Marathon (3 miles, 6 miles and 13.1 miles). The start and finish will be at The Rangeley Fitness Center where we will be hosting a Health and Wellness Expo from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well. Any interested vendors for this expo are encouraged to sign up and tables are free. The Rangeley Inn and Tavern will be providing a spaghetti dinner the night before this race (August 8) to help fuel runners before the event. The fifth and final run of this series, “Saddleback Trail Run”, is a 3.6 mile run to be held on Sept. 20 at 9 a.m. starting and ending at Saddleback Base Lodge. Stay after the run to enjoy the family friendly Saddleback Fall Festival.
