Skowhegan tops Mt. Blue in overtime

SKOWHEGAN – Mt. Blue girls’ field hockey rang up their first loss in weeks Thursday afternoon, after a tough Skowhegan High School squad scored in overtime. Mt. Blue’s record on the season is 8 – 4 – 1.

Both schools scored in the first half and were held scoreless in the second. Hannah LeClair scored for Mt. Blue, with an assist from Hannah Minns. For Skowhegan, Julia Steves and Brooke Michonske both scored.

Both schools put 12 shots on goal, with Mt. Blue augmenting those with another 11 penalty corner shots. Keepers Erika McArthur, for Mt. Blue, and Leah Kruse, for Skowhegan, minimized the damage with 10 and 9 saves, respectively.

The Mt. Blue junior varsity squad advanced to 9-2-1 on a 2 to 0 win. Ellie Pelletier and Jacelyn Daggett both scored for Mt. Blue. Keeper Riley Samson notched 5 saves.
