LEWISTON – Lewiston scored 3 runs to Mt. Blue’s 1 in the first inning, but then the Cougars took off, scoring 10 runs in the second inning at Tuesday’s matchup.
Mt. Blue pounded out 9 hits in the 2nd inning alone including a 2 RBI double by Addie Brinkman, a RBI double by Mariah Martin and an in the park home 3 run homer by Kasadie Barker.
Cougar pitcher Caitlin Kane gave up just 1 earned run in 7 innings of work on the mound while allowing 4 hits, striking out 2 and walking 2. Barker, Kayleigh Fontaine and Lauren Guppy each had 3 hits for Mt. Blue now (3-4). Jordan Mynahan had 2 singles for the Blue Devils (0-7).
