STRONG – Three local boys have been selected for the Soccer Maine Olympic Development Program.
Jed Zelie, of Strong; Evan Allen, of Avon; and Tyson Hill, of Strong, each tried out and were invited to participate in the player pool with other athletes born in 2001 and 2002. If these players make the final roster cut they will represent Maine this summer in Princeton, N.J., where they will compete against other states in ODP Region 1.
ODP Region 1 stretches from Maine down to West Virginia. Formed in 1977, the ODP program is designed to identify the best players in the country for the purpose of increasing the success of the U.S. National teams. ODP Maine selects the best players from Maine in each of their respective age groups.
All three boys are in the 7th grade at Strong Elementary School.
Congratulations!
Best of luck to these athletes.
Congrats to these young men – excellent soccer players and great ambassadors for the sport!
