WILTON – The Tyngtown Tee Time Benefit fundraiser was held on Saturday, Aug. 29 at Wilson Lake Country Club in Wilton under sunny skies.

Golfers were sent out to play in a scrambles format after enjoying refreshments that included fresh donuts, scones, apples, and coffee.

The winners were:

Lowest Gross: Dick Austin, Rusty Clukey, Bruce Dyke, and Cliff Harris
Lowest Net: John Cureton, Nancy Stowell, Dick Stowell, and Suzanne Twitchell
Closest to the pin No. 7: Nancy Stowell
Longest Drive Ladies: Nancy Stowell
Longest Drive Men: John McDonough
Putting Contest: Stan Jackson

Raffles and putting contests were ongoing during the morning. A delicious lunch was served by the Tyngtown ladies under the tents provided by the Boy Scouts and set up by particiants.

Corporate Sponsors were Upright Frameworks. Wilson Lake Inn, Hammond Lumber, ABT Plumbing, Kyes Agency, Franklin Savings Bank, Barclays, Franklin Chrysler and Jeep, and Wiles Remembrance Center.

Prizes were donated by Calzolaio, and the famous Tyngtown Pies Baker. Raffle items were donated by Expenet, Shelly’s Market, Wilton Hardware, Kelly Weigle, Annette Backus, Dick Austin, Jean Bleyle, Barbara Strong, and John Cureton. A Gordie Flint memorial was donated by Trish Flint. Other donations were made by Steve and Betty Harris, Ruel Orff Jr, Sue Boyce-Cormier, and many other Club members.

The committee includes Paulette Cahn, Zetta Wojcik, Trish Flint, Kelly Weigle, Karen Lawson, Sarah Chamberlain, Robin Bragg, Chris Cox, Nancy Cureton, and Joan Haeger. The WLCC, under the management of Mike and Joan Vella and Head Pro Matt did a wonderful job of assisting with the tournament.

The fundraiser benefits the local programs and organizations: Wilton Early Childhood Center, downtown flowers, Fit Girls, Wilton Free Library and other children’s programs.
