Tyngtown hosts 7th annual Tee Time Tournament and Luncheon

WILTON – The Tyngtown Club of Wilton held their 7th annual Tyngtown Tee Time Tournament and picnic lunch on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Wilson Lake Country Club. Although the event was held under overcast (and occasionally rainy) skies, all participants and volunteers had a wonderful time.

Along with other Tyngtown fundraising events, the golf tournament benefits the Wilton Free Public Library, Early Childhood Center, downtown flowers, Wilton Scholarship Fund, Fit-Girls, Wilton Blueberry Festival and other non-profits in and around Wilton.

The tournament organizers provided each player with an opportunity to purchase a mulligan and a string (shot extender). The team of Paul Soucie, Mike Soucie, Mark Soucie, and Kevin Welch won low gross with a best ball team score of 59. Low net was won by the team of Tom Wojcik, Josh Wojcik, Dave Haegar and Patrick Hopkins. Each winning team member for these contests received a Calzolaio Pasta Co. gift certificate.

Men’s closest-to-the-pin on hole 7/16 was won by Tom Weigle. Suzanne Twitchell won the women’s closest-to-the-pin on the same hole. Tim Merwin won the men’s longest drive on hole 13. Nancy Stowell and Suzanne Twitchell shared the prize for the women’s longest drive on the same hole. The winners of these contests each received a breakfast for two gift certificate from Lafleurs Restaurant and a sleeve of golf balls.

Thank you to the many area businesses and individuals who supported the tournament including hole sponsors, ABT Plumbing, Heating and Cooling, Barclay Card, Franklin Chrysler, Franklin Savings Bank, Hammond Lumber, Kyes Insurance, Pine Tree Orthopedic Lab, Upright Frameworks, Wilson Lake Inn, and closest-to-the pin sponsor, Hight Chevrolet Buick GMC. The Law Offices of Ron Aseltine provided prizes for a separate hole-sponsor contest. Raffle items were donated by Expenet, Farmington Ford, Harris Golf, Wilson Lake Inn, Marcia Parker, John Cureton, Paul Soucie, Barbara Strong, and Peggy Hodgkins.
