Tyngtown Tee Time raises funds

WILTON – The Tyngtown Club of Wilton held their 4th annual Tyngtown Tee Time benefit golf tournament at the Wilson Lake Country Club on Saturday, Aug. 24 under a beautiful sky and perfect temperature for the golfers and picnic attendees.

Golfers from the local area and Auburn attended the fundraiser. After a breakfast of donuts, scones, apples, and coffee the scrambles event began at 8AM.

The winners of the various golfing categories were:
Lowest Gross: Tom Weigle, Heather Weigle, Sue Tinguely, and Gerry Tinguely.
Lowest Net: Ken Dubay, Richard Sewall, Tom Upham, and Tom Cahn
Closest to the pin #7: Gail Kennedy
Men’s longest Drive #4: Russell France
Senior Men’s longest Drive #4: Ken Dubay
Ladies longest Drive #4: Linda Wentzell
Putting Contest: Terry Nadeau

Raffles and a putting contest were ongoing during the morning. A delicious lunch was served by the Tyngtown ladies under the tents which were supplied by Ray and the Boy Scouts of Wilton. The Rogers’s brothers, Silas and Nolan, provided a delightful strings duet during lunch. The music was sponsored by Nancy Cureton.

Corporate sponsors for the event were: Upright Frameworks, Wilson Lake Inn, Wiles Remembrance Center, Hammond Lumnber, ABT Plumbing, Kyes Agency, Franklin Savings Bank, and Barclays.

Raffle donations were provided by John Cureton, Dick Austin, Cazolaio, Peggy Hodgkins, Barbara Strong, Wilton Hardware, and the Tyngtown Club.

Chairperson Paulette Cahn expressed appreciation and thank you to her assistants: Zetta Wojcik, Trish Flint, Chris Cox, Kelly Weigle, Karen Lawson, Nancy Cureton, Sarah Chamberlain, and Joan Haeger.

Assisting with the event were the husbands who helped with the heavy lifting in setting up/taking down the tents and accessories. This was done under the watchful eye and direction of “Head Tyngtownette” John Cureton. In addition, a thank you to the club members who cooked, served and donated for this event.

A special thank you to Groundskeeper Fred Shardlow and crew for having the course in A+ condition. And also thanks to Nancy Pratt and Josh for their assistance in this tournament.

The Wilson Lake Country Club was a beautiful venue to host this fun day for golfing and picnic lunch.
The fundraiser is for the benefit of the Wilton Library, Wilton Early Childhood Center, Fit Girls, School programs, Downtown flowers, and scholarships.
