UMF beats Eagles on Iman’s 18 points

FARMINGTON – Junior guard Yusuf Iman (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) scored a game-high 18 points and led the University of Maine at Farmington to a 71-64 North Atlantic Conference victory, in men’s basketball action Thursday night at Dearborn Gym.

Ben Johnson (Manchester, Maine/Maranacook), who was saddled with foul trouble most of the evening, was the only other UMF player in double figures with 14 points.

Andrew Dickey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) added nine points with nine rebounds, while Sam Leal (York, Maine/York) chipped in with eight off the bench. Nate Carson (Orrington, Maine/Brewer) also logged nine boards to go with his seven points.

Husson reserve Phil Leighton led the Eagles with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Jacob Moore logged 12 points.

UMF shot 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from the field, and had a 39-36 advantage on the boards. Husson, who came into the game shooting .450 from the field this season, was held to just 38.6 percent (22-of-57) by the Beavers.

UMaine-Farmington will face Maine Maritime in a road game on Saturday afternoon, while Husson will host Thomas College.
