FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington men’s lacrosse team enters its sixth season in hopes of claiming a North Atlantic Conference championship title.

After getting selected sixth in the North Atlantic Conference preseason poll, the team looks to build off last year’s momentum despite losing eight seniors. With a 4-7 overall mark and an even 4-4 in conference play, UMF finished in a three-way tie for fourth and lost in the first round of the playoffs to Husson.

First-year head coach, Jim Dock ’96, has a solid mix of upperclassmen and younger talent in his rookie season. Zach Rowland (Fryeburg); David Grainger (Lexington.); Josh Smith (Sidney); and Brandon Monroe (Oakland) enter their final season in a Beaver uniform.

The junior class of Ray Swaby (Greenwich, Conn.); Nathan Chase (Wells); Connor Joy (Windham); and Cameron McAllister (Yarmouth) bring their experience to the forefront of the UMF attack.

The underclassmen of the team consist of five sophomores and two freshmen. The sophomores include Ronie Morales (Houston, Tex.); Tom McGowan (Windham); Joseph Maldonado (Fresno, Calif.); Joshua Abrams (Poland); and Casey Wrigley (Oakland). Chase Rerrick (South Portland) and Sean Zubrod (Sidney) enter the season as UMF’s freshman class.

The 2015 schedule includes non-conference stops at Rivier, Lasell, Southern Maine, and Becker, while hosting Daniel Webster in the regular-season finale on April 21. Conference play starts March 21 at Castleton.

UMaine-Farmington kicks off the 2015 campaign on Wednesday, March 3 at Saint Joseph’s. The game will be played at Deering Memorial Stadium at Deering High School.
