WHITINGHAM, Vt. – The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) announced on Thursday that the University of Maine at Farmington men’s basketball team received the NAC Team Sportsmanship Award for the 2014-2015 season.

The Beavers finished the year with an overall record of 9-16 and 8-10 in conference play. UMF made a strong push for the playoffs by winning five of its final six games, including a thrilling overtime victory over Maine Maritime Academy in the season finale. Plus, UMF upset Castleton on the road, 90-84. It marked the first time since the NAC Championship season of 2009-2010 that the Beavers defeated the Spartans on their home floor in the regular season.

Farmington opened the season for the first time in school history at the Guilford Tournament, hosted by Guildford College in North Carolina. The team welcomed the UMF community to a grand opening ceremony of a newly-renovated Dearborn Gymnasium in the home opener, which guided the team to a, 72-55, conference win over MMA.

This marks UMF’s third overall Team Sportsmanship Award and first since the 2009-2010 season. UMF also won the award in 2008-2009.
