FARMINGTON – Alexandra Crocker’s header gave the University of Maine at Farmington women’s soccer team (7-7) the walk-off win in double overtime as the Beavers defeated Southern Maine for only the second time all-time Tuesday afternoon at Prescott Field.

Bridget Humphrey tried to end the game in double overtime, but her shot was saved by Huskies goalie Marissa Temple. Crocker was right there for the rebound and headed the game winner.

Humphrey and Crocker hooked up earlier in the opening minutes of regulation. The duo helped the Beavers take the lead in the 11th minute when Humphrey gave Crocker a chance for another header and her first goal of the game.

Humphrey netted an unassisted goal of her own in the 21st minute and gave the Beavers a 2-0 edge.

USM answered back when Kelly Burrell scored her first goal of the game in the 27th minute. Burrell evened the score in the 38th minute after getting the assist from Becca Tounous.

The game remained tied until Avalon Amador scored her eight goal of the season in the 56th minute after Katie Clark contributed the go-ahead assist.

CC Pelletier scored the equalizer in the 68th minute and helped the Huskies for the extra needed sessions.

Sam Hatch picked up the victory and saved four shots in the process. Marissa Temple saved 14 shots for the Huskies.

The Huskies own the all-time series, 1-17-3, with the only previous UMF victory coming in 2012 and scored two second half goals for the win.

UMF hosts Colby-Sawyer as conference play continues Saturday at 12:00pm.
