CARRABASSETT VALLEY – The University of Maine at Farmington snowboard team claimed five medals at the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) Snowboard/Freeride team slopestyle event, held in the Haywire Terrain Park at Sugarloaf on Friday night.
In the men’s jams, 18-22 age group, Joseph Menard (Portland, Maine/Portland) took home the crown with 1,020 total points. Drew Bates (Presque Isle, Maine/Presque Isle) followed Menard in second with 910 points. Angelica Horne (Bay, Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) added another medal for UMF with a first place finish in the women’s jams, 18-22 age group, with 1,010 points.
In the senior men’s slope style, Andreas Panagore (East Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) won the event with 1,010 points and scored 63.00 on his jumps.
In the men’s ski race, 19-29 age group, Vaughn Keenhold (Braintree, Vt./Randolph Union) came in second place with 910 points.
The UMF alpine team races at Sunday River today while the Nordic team competes at Black Mountain.
