BANGOR – Five separate players scored for the University of Maine at Farmington women’s lacrosse team (0-5, 0-2) in Tuesday evening’s, 19-7, North Atlantic Conference loss to Husson University (3-3, 2-1) at Boucher Field.

UMF trailed, 2-0, before Carly Raymond (Tophsam, Maine) wiped the zero off the scoreboard for the Beavers’ first goal of the game. Ayla Allen (Rumford, Maine) scored back-to-back unassisted goals in a two and a half minute span to tie the game and then give Farmington a, 3-2, lead.

Later in the half, Mara Balboni (Oakland, Maine) scored a free position shot for her second goal of the season and closed the gap, 8-4. Five minutes later, Allen was able to find the back of the cage for her third goal of the contest, but UMF still trailed, 10-5. Maddi Kadnar (Belgrade, Maine) beat Husson’s keeper, Jess Poulin (Albion, Maine), for the half’s final goal with a minute and a half remaining.

The nation’s leader in ground balls per game, Rhi Jackson (Saco, Maine) netted the Beavers’ lone second half goal only fifteen seconds into the final period. The Eagles reeled off eight unanswered scores in the final 28 minutes to secure the final margin of victory.

Patty Smith (Gorham, Maine) played the entire game between the pipes and saved 11 shots.

Farmington will return to non-conference play in the month of April with a stop at Daniel Webster on Friday.
