Richard L. McFarland (1955-2019)

NEWPORT – Richard L. McFarland, 63, died peacefully on Feb. 6, 2019 at Ross Manor in Bangor.

He was born April 13, 1955 in Hartland, the son of Ralph and Daureen (Gullifer) McFarland.

He attended Nokomis Regional High and later, married Mona Braley. They shared 44 years together and raised one daughter. Richard worked for Great Northern Paper Company where he ran a mechanical harvester and later worked for Martin Brothers Construction. He volunteered for 25 years for the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife as a safety instructor for hunter safety and archery safety. He taught over 6000 students. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also did woodworking.

Richard is survived by his wife, Mona (Braley) McFarland of Newport; daughter, Alicia McFarland of St. Albans; grandsons, Tre and Ty Ewings of St. Albans; parents, Ralph and Daureen McFarland of St. Albans; brother, Rodney McFarland and wife Rochelle of St. Albans; sister, Sherri Rogers of Pittsfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Harold and Maude McFarland and Merton and Catherine Gullifer.

He will be lovingly missed.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at the convenience of the family.
